Rhindalo
Poison/Rock
90/145/80/40/50/55
Ability 1: Poison Point
Ability 2: Rock Head
Ability 3: Adaptability
Overview:
Rhindalo is a very big threat in sunmon. It's 145 atk stat makes it hard to switch into adaptability boosted high base power moves such as Gunk Shot or Stone Edge. It's access to Earthquake allows it too make quick work of steel types that may believe they wall this threat. Rhindalo is hindered however by his slow speed and too really to a dent in offensive teams it needs to set up a rock polish to begin anywhere. Running a choice band however, allows you to make quick work of slower more defensive teams.
Rock Polish:
Move 1: Gunk Shot Item: Life orb / Expert Belt
Move 2: Stone Edge Ability: Adaptability
Move 3: Earthquake Nature: Adamant
Move 4: Rock Polish EVS: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Moves:
Gunk Shot and Stone Edge provide powerful stab moves for you to spam against your opponent. Gunk shot can be used to scare out pokemon like elfae allowing you an opportunity to set up. Similar to this stone edge can scare out pokemon like detritusk. Earthquake allows you to kill steel types like reknology which may try to revenge kill you after you set up for a sweep. Rock polish along with an adamant nature allows you to outspeed scarf reknology with ease.
Set Details:
A maximum investment in speed allows Rhindalo to out speed the whole tier, not factoring in Choice Scarf, after a rock polish. Adamant, life orb plus a full attack investment allow this mon to get easy ko's and can really kill offensive teams as they will struggle to switch into this monster. Alternative to life orb, you can run expert belt to allow you to still hit very hard whilst increasing your longevity and making you less susceptible to priority from pokemon like climaleon or kazmartial. Adaptability over rock head as it's more beneficial as it benefits a your poison stab as well making you a much more threatening force, as if you wasn't one already.
Usage Tips:
This set can set up on more passive pokemon or teams forcing switches from passive mons such as Surveillock or Elfae. You can use this mon to come in on obvious toxics due to it's toxic immunity and take this as a set up opportunity or use it as a pivot. If you can manage to scare out some pokemon against offensive teams you can begin to tear holes and possible win games as offensive teams struggle against this monster. It's main roll is really to sweep late game against offensive teams or to act as a wall breaker against defensive teams, and with this multi functionality it proves to be a force to be reckoned with.
Team Options:
A good option with rhindalo is detritusk as it can provide hazards making it even harder to switch into, but as well as this it can provide sand to help strengthen that poor special defence of 50. A wish passer such as Aberphant, which can stop psychic types and lure bug attacks, or Elfae which can lure poison attacks for it to switch into is very nice as they can help rhindalo if it's burned or pass a wish to it allow it to have a second opportunity to sweep. More offensive options such as shadoweep, lillive, hoboblin, cratcher and seanobi can be use to weaken teams for it to sweep through later or check/trap psychic types which can outspeed with a scarf such as hajimi or Caviapse.
Wallbreaker:
Move 1: Gunk Shot/Poison Jab Item: Choice Band
Move 2: Stone Edge Ability: Adaptability
Move 3: Megahorn Nature: Adamnt
Move 4: Earthquake EVS: 228 Atk / 76 SpD / 204 Spe
Moves:
Gunk Shot and Stone Edge provide powerful stab moves for you to spam against your opponent and when boosted by choice band there really is no good switch-in. In using gunk shot you gain maximum damage potential with Rhindalos attack and can really overpower even the most bulky of teams. Poison jab is also a good option as it's still a very powerful and accurate move to use on Rhindalo. Megahorn is for bulky psychics like Aberphant allowing you a guaranteed ohko on them. Earthquake prevents steel types from switching in willy nilly and makes it a hard pokemon to deal with.
Set Details:
When invested 228 evs in to attack like it's power can be used as a nice wallbreaker allowing other mons to sweep later. Adaptability being the better choice as it can boost your powerful stab moves and make you even more of a threatening pokemon. With 76 SpD evs it allow rhindalo to live any one scald from a Moonsoon as you don't kill with gunk shot. 204 speed allows you to outspeed uninvested base 80's such as Lullama.
Usage Tips:
When using this set you want to play extremely aggressive, making opportunistic double switches allowing rhindalo to be in very advantageous positions in which it can fire off a gunk shot. When luring in passive walls like elfae you can double into this monster and scare it out or just flat out ko certain Pokemon. In spamming your powerful moves you create walls into much more defensive teams for your other pokemon to clean up late game.
Team Options:
Team options for this set are predominantly offensive. Good hazard stackers such a Brambroulete are beneficial as they can really make switching into this pokemon a pain, not only can it set up hazards but it can baton pass speed into into Rhindalo making a very VERY scary threat on the field. Orienchant goes well as it can lure elfae in which you can u-turn or just hard switch into Rhindalo and begin to fire off a powerful stab move. You can use Rhindalo to make holes in teams for pokemon like Seanobi
or murezhu to sweep through late game as the can kill off weakened pokemon.
Checks and Counters:
Psychic types: Scarfed psychic types really do create a problem for this pokemon as they outspeed every set.
Special moves: Due to it's poor special defence it really does fall to the scent of any special move.
Steel types: Although it has access to coverage like superpower and earthquake it really can cause mind games for Rhindalo and it's pretty easy to lose these mind games.
Priority: Due to Rhindalo being on a time due to life orb, priority really does reduce it's longevity in battle.
